Wednesday’s Flower: Phalaenopsis orchid

Phalaenopsis 'Little Miss Elegant'

Phalaenopsis ‘Little Miss Elegant’

My dwarf orchid has presented me with the first flower of 2015. It’s a pretty little thing, isn’t it? Not fully open when I took the photo, but now it has three open flowers.

Two other photos of the same plant:

By great coincidence, Ed is looking for white things in Sunday Stills — and he has used orchid photos, too!

At Sunday Stills this week, the theme is multiple flowers: “at least two or more types of flowers in a single picture.” What a great excuse to go mad with flowers!

This week’s Sunday Stills challenge celebrates spring with yellow wildflowers. These photos were taken at Gore Hill Cemetery in the Sydney suburb of St Leonards — in November, which is late spring for us.

By coincidence, one of my recent posts also features these flowers in this cemetery, although the theme for that post is ‘muted colours’ so they look very different. Check it out here.
